Webster's Dictionary defines a "Corps" as,
"a body of persons acting together or associated for a common
mission". Aqua Corps is the name of our
"body of persons acting together for a common mission". Our
mission is, to work for a cleaner environment for future generations
(my children and yours!), particularly with regards to water issues
and "sustainable living" practices.
Since childhood I've always had a deep love of the
ocean. So naturally, since forming Symbiosis Dive Services the
primary corporate goal has always been to foster a more
"symbiotic" relationship between humanity and
our environment. Indeed, it's at the very root of our name. (Founder,
USCG Licensed Captain Jim Hinckley, has owned and operated
Symbiosis Dive Service since 1988.)
Some time ago, and after much
"reasoning", I decided to to sell the retail / store
portion of the business (aka: Aqua Shack) to devote more time to my
family and environmentalist causes. Since the sale of the Aqua
Shack me, Kim, our 2 children Karina and Zack, and I
have moved to Hubbardston, MA and are enjoying life immensely! Click Here to read
letter of Thanks and Appreciation from Capt. Jim and Kim. ( and check out some of the
many personal & family links on the site)

Since the sale of the Aqua Shack store. Symbiosis
Dive Service continues to operate as a "service
only" business. Our goals remain the same; to educate people
about SCUBA diving and the need to Save our Water Planet by stressing
minimum impact and sustainable living practices.

SCUBA diving is one of the most exciting, dynamic and energizing
outdoor activities, with the unique ability to appeal to
different people from differing backgrounds, with differing ages,
interests and lifestyles. Unfortunately, 90% of the general population
has yet to pull on fins and a mask, bite down on a snorkel or regulator
and discover the biggest portion of our world.
Value is subjective, but it means that the consumer wants the
"most bang for the buck". Diving has tremendous value.
It offers exploration, access to nature, fitness, boating, social
activities, lobster dinners, new avenues of creativity (UW Photo or
Video), challenge and most important, relaxation. It's accessible
almost anywhere you are, and anywhere you go. It offers a variety of
different activities suitable for different ages, physiques, interests
and motivations.
Consumers today don't want to look back when they're 70 and feel
like they let life pass them by. They're not interested in cheat-death
thrill seeking, but they want to live - to feel their pulse pound as
they stick their necks out and taste adventure. They want a recreation
they can enjoy together as a family, one that still offers something
for everyone's abilities. This is a crucial part of the values people look
for in recreations and activities. (continued

Diving accommodates this with excitement, adventure and challenge,
coupled with one of the most diverse, accessible and widespread of life
styles. There are few other activities that offer so much for so
little. Symbiosis SCUBA Academy has trained thousands of safe,
confident and happy divers, from entry level to instructor, including
many specialties. We are acknowledged experts in SCUBA Instruction
& Training, the field of "Technical Diving" and dive
equipment servicing. Let Capt. Jim and his staff of highly trained
Instructors introduce you to the adventures of diving!

Shopping for a "deal" or a
"cheap" scuba class? Consider this wise old statement... it
still holds true today!
Too Much Or Too Little?
"It is unwise to pay too much, but is worse to pay too little.
When you pay too much you lose a little money. When you pay too little
you sometimes lose everything, because the thing you bought was
incapable of doing the thing it was bought to do.
The common law of business balance prohibits paying a little and
getting a lot. It cannot be done. There is hardly anything in the world
that someone can't make a little worse and sell a little cheaper . . .
. And those who consider price alone are This Man's Lawful
Prey". John Ruskin 1819-1900

you all have as much fun diving as we do teaching it... we're confident
you will!
